Informed Consent Policy

Manuscripts containing data regarding an individual’s personal details require written informed consent. These details may include a person’s identity, images, videos, or whereabouts. If the person is dead, consent must be taken from the closest relative. In the case of children under the age of 18, consent should be obtained from parents or legal guardians.

The consent can be obtained using the BMC form or any other institutional form. The form should clearly state that the individual’s information, images, and videos will be shared on the internet and available publically. It should be stated in the manuscript that the consent for publication has been obtained. The editor may require these forms while maintaining confidentiality.

In the case of anonymous and unidentifiable images, formal consent is not required. These kinds of images include X-rays, pathological slides, ultrasound images, etc.
